Once inside The Shoes there is a traditional feel to the building including original features such old beams and inglenook / open fireplaces in the two bars. These together with the with the mix of rich colours, modern fabrics and furniture create a simple back drop with a relaxed and contempory feel; and boy are the real open fires great on a wintery evening.
For those that don’t want to miss the major sporting events, one of the bars has ESPN sports channel displayed on a large flat screen.
Directly outside there is a partly covered patio area for alfresco dining and a place to sit and watch the world go by. Should the weather allow, there is also a large grassed garden providing casual seating, outside dining, and for the kids, that much needed climbing frame and trampoline.
For all visitors to The Shoes, Helen (Nell to her friends) and her dedicated team offer a warm and friendly welcome. Having been the landlady since 1994, and the daughter of a respected local publican, Nell has just about got the hang of everything now and once inside the pub you can’t help but get caught up in the atmosphere of the village and pub life. Being the hub of the village you’ll no doubt meet the typical village characters and even find the Vicar playing dominoes!
